Aurora Man Gets 10 Years For Sex Trafficking

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A 30-year-old Colorado man who pleaded guilty to bringing an underage girl to Casper last year to prostitute her has been sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

Joseph Javon Dawson of Aurora was sentenced Monday in by U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal in Cheyenne. She ordered him to register as a sex offender, complete sex offender treatment and not associate with minors or vulnerable adults.

Dawson was arrested June 21 by Casper police, who were participating in a national effort targeting sex trafficking. Officers responded to a female advertising escort services. The girl involved was 16 and was listed as a missing and endangered person in the National Crime Information Center database.

Dawson pleaded guilty in October.
