Aurora Fire Chief's Wife Sentenced In Hit-And-Run

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The wife of Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia was sentenced on Friday for her role in a hit-and-run that left two children injured.

Adriene Garcia was driving a personal car when she rear ended another vehicle at East Yale Avenue and Peoria Street in May 2014. She pleaded guilty to felony reckless vehicular assault on Jan. 9.

Investigators say two children were hurt in the accident and that Garcia, 51, left the scene. Police contacted her 21 minutes later. Chief Mike Garcia called 911 when he learned of his wife's hit and run accident.

Garcia was sentenced to two years of probation, one day in jail, 10 days of in-home detention and 200 hours of community service. She is scheduled to report to the Arapahoe County jail on Tuesday.
