Attorney Says He Has New Evidence In 2012 Death In Evans
DENVER (AP) — A Denver attorney says he has evidence that an Evans police detective tampered with witness statements in a 2012 shooting that was originally ruled a suicide.
Dan Recht said Thursday he also has information "strongly implicating" 28-year-old Ashley Fallis' husband, Tom Fallis, in her death.
Evans Police Chief Rick Brandt says he has asked a neighboring police department to review the shooting after being presented with new evidence and witness accounts. Brandt says a different department has launched a criminal investigation into allegations that Evans Detective Michael Yates omitted evidence. Yates remains on the force but is no longer the department's spokesman.
Phone listings for Tom Fallis could not be found. Recht says he will discuss the evidence at a news conference Thursday.
