Bank Robbery Search Leads To Traffic Backup On I-70

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - A bank robbery search in Arvada wound up creating traffic backups on Interstate 70 for a short time on Friday.

The situation on the interstate happened sometime before noon near the Kipling Parkway exit. Police activity closed down some lanes.

Officers say a TCF Bank on 55th Avenue was robbed.

The department released two photos of the suspect, describing him as a white male, 20 to 40-years-old, with brown hair and a medium build. He is approximately 5-feet-9, 160 to 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and a gray hoodie.

He was armed with a handgun.

The suspect fled the area on a white scooter with a red seat.

Officers followed a lead on the suspect to the area of I-70 and Kipling Avenue, where traffic was shut down for approximately 30 minutes, but were unable to located the suspect.
