Arsonist On The Loose In Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - People in Fort Collins say they are rattled by the news that there's an arsonist on the loose in their city.

The fires were all set on Sunday at approximately 6 a.m. on South College Avenue, between West Drake Road and Monroe Drive.

No one was hurt, but the flames caused thousands of dollars in damage.

The fires were all set in bushes, according to the Poudre Fire Authority.

"Whoever started these fire they put them into juniper bushes, which is very much like liquid gasoline," Battalion Chief Brandon Garcia said.

Witnesseses told CBS4 they are glad the flames didn't spread to nearby buildings.

"It's just kind of actually cruel. If it gets a building that's actually a business it would put a lot of people out of their work. It could just mess up a lot of people's lives," said Drew Deckard, who lives next to where two of the fires were set.

Investigators are hoping they will get some tips in the case on an arson hotline. Anyone with more information about the fires is asked to call 877-89-ARSON (877-892-7766).
