Arson Suspect Arrested In Fire That Destroyed Intricate Art

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - The arson suspect in a fire that destroyed a vast collection of irreplaceable artwork at a home near Idaho Springs has been identified.

Deputies arrested Robert Leibold who lived at the home. Leibold, 36, faces charges of first-degree arson and reckless endangerment.

The homeowner and artist, Dave Shelton, told CBS4 that Leibold was recently evicted from the home.

Hand-carved guitars, totem poles, and animal figurines were ruined by the fire.

Leibold remains in custody on $15,000 bond.

Investigators say Leibold called them shortly after admitting he started it.
