DENVER (CBS4) - President Obama signed a disaster declaration for areas of Colorado affected by severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides and mudslides during the period of May 4 to June 16.

The declaration means Colorado will receive federal aid to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas.

The areas include the counties of Baca, Elbert, El Paso, Fremont, Logan, Morgan, Pueblo, Saguache, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma.

"Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide," the White House said in a statement. "Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments."
