Arapahoe Basin To Open Friday

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will open Friday, the first resort in the United States this season.

"Conditions have been outstanding for snowmaking and we are very excited to open this Friday," A-Basin's Chief Operating Officer Alan Henceroth said. "It is always great to watch people have fun skiing and riding. I look forward to catching up with old friends and getting The Basin rolling."

The High Noon trail and the Black Mountain Express high-speed quad chairlift will open at 9 a.m.

A-Basin started making snow on Oct. 2 and has created an 18-inch base that's necessary for the resort to open. The area also received about one foot of natural snow in the last few weeks.

Full-day adult tickets are $69.
