Arapahoe Basin Tests Snowmaking Guns

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The snow-making guns are out at A-Basin.

After receiving some natural snow last night, the ski area is testing the guns for the second time this season.

"We took advantage of the cool morning to fully fire up the system," they posted online. "It was a combination of staff training and refreshing and looking for those last minute glitches."

While this is the second time they've tested this season, it's the first they've used the reservoir, pumps, water lines, power lines, and guns all together since last December.

"We want to be sure nothing too weird has happened in that nine month dormancy," they posted.

When will it happen for real?

Actual snow-making depends on when Mother Nature decides to cooperate with temperatures low enough to make the snow stick.
