America's Purple Heart Recipients In Denver For Convention

DENVER (CBS4) - Some of America's bravest veterans are in Denver this week for the Purple Heart National Convention.

The Purple Heart is awarded to service men and women who were wounded in war. One of those vets is Charles Eggleston, who was severely injured when two IEDs blew up next to his vehicle.

"It's just great to be among a group of guys and gals that are the most dedicated, the bravest in the warrior family," Eggleston said. "These are our heroes."

The group called the Military Order of the Purple Heart puts together a convention every year. The group provides services and programs to help vets with suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress, brain injuries and women's health concerns.
