Alert Ken Caryl Residents Helped Catch A Dangerous Man

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Alert residents helped authorities catch a dangerous man in the Ken Caryl neighborhood over the weekend thanks to Jeffco's use of the Code Red system.

It started on Saturday when a homeowner returned to his Ken Caryl Ranch home and surprised a burglar. The intruder was armed with a knife and fled the scene on Willowleaf Drive.

The would-be victim provided Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies with a good description and they put out an alert on the Code Red system. That helped residents know who to look out for.

Less than 24 hours later, that man was found right down the street from the initial crime scene which also backs up to a path.
