Alamosa County Deputy Charged In Jail Sex Assault

ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) - A former Alamosa County Sheriff's deputy faces sexual assault and other charges in connection with alleged contact with a jail inmate.

The Valley Courier reported Tuesday that a judge last week set an April 28 preliminary hearing for Dale Michael Jordan, 34. According to Alamosa County Court records, he faces a felony count of criminal attempt to commit sexual assault, a felony count of criminal attempt to commit unlawful sexual conduct in a correctional institute, a misdemeanor count of criminal attempt to commit unlawful sexual contact and a misdemeanor count of first degree official misconduct.

Prosecutors say they have eight witnesses to the alleged crime last May in which the victim was an inmate in the Alamosa County Detention Center.

Jordan is not being held in custody.
