Air Force Academy To Honor Its 33 Graduates Who Were POWs

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - The Air Force Academy is honoring its 33 graduates who have been held as prisoners of war.

Nineteen POWs are scheduled to attend the Thursday-Friday event. They'll meet with cadets and attend the dedication of a plaque and statue that acknowledge their sacrifices.

Family members of living and deceased Air Force Academy POWs are also expected to attend.

All 33 graduates who were POWs were held in Southeast Asia.

Academy officials say this will likely be the largest gathering of POWs the school has ever witnessed.
