Air Force Academy Dismisses Hazing Charges Against Swim Team Members

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -- The Air Force Academy says it dismissed hazing charges against three members of the school's swimming team. The academy said Wednesday the charges were dropped after an investigation determined that a conviction would be inappropriate.

School officials didn't elaborate but said the investigation included interviews and consultation with commanders and attorneys.

The academy identified the cadets as Garrett Glaudini, Michael Hannigan and Lars Knutson. Officials say those three and others still face possible administrative discipline.

Officials also dismissed charges of conspiracy and obstruction of justice against the three.

The charges stemmed from a September 2017 incident involving freshman members of the team. Investigators say other cadets stripped and blindfolded the newcomers and also tried to make them vomit. No sexual acts were alleged.

Eleven swimmers were suspended from the team.
