AG Stenehjem Bans Colorado Contractor From Working In State

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has issued a cease and desist order banning a Colorado contractor from doing business in North Dakota.

Stenehjem says Brad Harper has done business as Hawkeye Homes and Fox Fire Homes and lists addresses in Williston and Minot although he is located in Colorado.

The attorney general's office investigated Harper following a complaint from a consumer who didn't want Harper to finish building his home. Investigators found that Harper was not licensed in the state to work as a general contractor.

Stenehjem says Harper admitted he didn't have a license or live in North Dakota. He was given an opportunity to get a license but Stenehjem says he refused and stopped cooperating with investigators.

Stenehjem says Harper also did not respond to a demand for information.
