After Toys Stolen, Center Has More Donations Than Before

LOCHBUIE, Colo. (CBS4)- Last week more than 40 large toys were stolen from the Lochbuie Senior Center's toy drive.

"I just can't believe people would do that," Dee Nelson at the center said.

The toys were meant to be given to underprivileged kids during a Christmas party Saturday at the center.

"We are going to give out gifts, have cookies and cocoa," Nelson said.

After the theft, that planned party was in jeopardy. But once word got out about the theft, donations came pouring in.

"If they come in I'll give them hugs, I am a hugger," Nelson added, "There are so many wonderful people out there after all this."

The toy drive now has more toys than it did before the theft.

"We are all glad to give back this time of the year," Noni Kobza said as she dropped off her donation.

The toys are to be handed out Saturday afternoon during the planned Christmas party.
