AFC Championship Game Tickets Sell Out Online In A Matter Of Minutes

DENVER (CBS4) - It took just minutes for the remaining tickets to the AFC Championship Game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High to sell out online. Those who are looking for tickets online should be prepared to dish out plenty of money because even the so-called cheap seats are very pricey.

There were just 79 unused tickets for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's not clear why those people didn't show up, but if that's the case next week, some people will be losing out on hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

The Ticketmaster site immediately sent ticket purchasers into a waiting line. CBS4's reached as high as 17 minutes. Soon came the disappointment of being told "sorry no tickets from the venue currently." But fans were directed to the official secondary market -- the NFL Ticket Exchange. There were just under 5,000 tickets for sale with some of the cheapest around $275. The most expensive CBS4 found was $10,000.

On other websites the sale prices are skyrocketing. The Denver Broncos say the most trusted source is the NFL Ticket Exchange. In November there were fans who found that out the hard way.

Sites like StubHub, Craigslist, and scalpers don't provide any guarantee to get in the gate for the game against the New England Patriots.

There's been no official word from the Broncos if any tickets will be on sale at the stadium box office, which will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Those who don't want to drop a lot of money on tickets to Sunday's game can watch it for free on CBS4. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
