Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Acquitted On Assault Charges

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - An Adams County sheriff's deputy seen on video kicking a man who was being arrested outside a bar has been acquitted of assault charges.

A grand jury issued an indictment against deputy Jeffrey Stovall in November 2015 in which the third-degree assault charge stemmed from a May 24 encounter outside Karley's bar.

Surveillance video recorded on the man's cellphone shows other deputies holding him on the ground as Stovall kicked him.

Stovall was placed on administrative leave during the investigation and trial.

A jury acquitted Stovall on Friday.
