The highway was closed between Table Mesa and McCaslin Boulevard for nearly three hours.

The crashes were among several that shut down highways in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas as icy roadways caught drivers by surprise following a light spring snowfall.

In Aurora, one person died after being thrown from a vehicle that lost control and rolled on icy Interstate 225.

Roads were snowy in the mountains, where Interstate 70 was closed for about 1 1/2 hours after several trucks spun out on Vail Pass.
