39 Students On Board Douglas County School Bus During Crash

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (CBS4)- More than three dozen children were on board a school bus when it was involved in a crash with a pickup truck on Thursday afternoon. Three of those students complained of injuries.

Copter4 flew over the school bus that was stopped in the middle of the intersection of Southpark Road and Broadway in Highlands Ranch about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The crash site is near the Northridge Recreation Center.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said a pickup truck crashed into the bus with 39 students on board. Officers are investigating what happened leading up to the crash and who is at fault.

All the students were taken in a different bus to the Christ Lutheran Church at 8997 S. Broadway. The three students who complained of injuries were checked out at the scene by paramedics and released.

There were traffic delays in the area due to lane restrictions but the road is open.
