3 People Escape Late Night Fire In Westminster

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) -Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday a building caught fire on the 7100 block of Newton Street. The commercial building housed apartments above it.

Westminster and Adams counties responded to the 2-alarm fire with a total of 30 firefighters. The three people made it out safely.

The cause is unknown and investigators said it's unlikely that they will ever know exactly how the fire started. They said the ignition spot is just a pile of "goo" which makes it difficult to determine the cause.

The fire caused significant damage to homes and two businesses and apartments.
