200+ Shots Fired In Lodo Parking Lot, 18 Weapons Involved

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver District Attorney's Office says more than 200 shots were fired in a shooting between rival gang members in LoDo over the weekend after police initially said it was closer to 100 shots.

Gunfire rang out shortly after midnight July 30 in the paid parking lot near 18th and Market Street.

Police said the shooting was a result of a confrontation between several people. There were 18 different weapons used in the shooting, but police haven't stated what type of weapons they were.

Two adult males were shot. One victim was rushed to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The other victim, later identified as Gailen Armstrong, died in the parking lot.

Police said that the two victims were together when they were shot.

Witnesses told CBS4 the downtown block where the incident happened was like a war zone. The gunfire sprayed all around the block.

Hundreds of bystanders took shelter in area bars, and some returned the next morning to find their cars with bullet holes in them.
