Prosecutors said Friday that one of the 16-year-olds from Castle Rock was charged with possession of an explosive or incendiary device and the other was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

Because they have been charged as juveniles, they didn't release their names or details of what they're accused of doing.

Police say the teens were arrested Monday on allegations unrelated to the chemicals and devices but an officer spotted the chemicals while notifying one of their parents about the arrest. The devices were found later.

Residents of more than 30 nearby homes were evacuated until the following morning.
