2 Men At Large After Car Chase In Cherry Creek State Park

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are still looking for two men who led them on a wild chase that ended in Cherry Creek State Park.

It started when police spotted a stolen truck at Parker Road and Quincy Avenue and then followed the driver into the park. The driver crashed through the park's gates and headed down a dirt trail.  The suspects eventually abandoned the stolen truck, carjacked another vehicle from the marina, and escaped.

Witness Stuart Smith said, "Next thing I know, a white truck flies past me…I thought, I had better stay put in my car and not move."

An Englewood police officer, who is a member of the East Metro Auto Theft Task Force, flipped his vehicle when the chase headed along the banks. He was not seriously injured.

Police first spotted the stolen vehicle at a 7-Eleven just east of the park. The truck had been stolen in Thornton a few days earlier.

The incident is being handled by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.
