2 Lone Tree Police Officers Injured In I-25 Crash

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4)- Two Lone Tree police officers were involved in a crash early Friday morning that left them with minor injuries.

The officers were conducting an investigation following a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 25 north of Lincoln Avenue about 12:50 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say the two Lone Tree Police vehicles parked on the right shoulder of I-25 when a vehicle driven by an adult male struck one of the officer's patrol vehicles. That patrol vehicle was pushed into a second patrol vehicle.

An officer was inside each of those patrol vehicles. The two officers suffered minor injuries in the crash and were treated and released from the hospital.

The driver who caused the crash was taken into custody by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. That office has taken over the crash investigation. Deputies believe alcohol contributed to the crash.

All lanes of northbound I-25 were closed for about one hour and 10 minutes during crash cleanup and investigation.
