2 Lanes EB I-70 Closed At 32nd For Pothole Repairs

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- A huge pothole in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Wheat Ridge proved to have too much damage for crews to make the repairs in a short time so commuters are urged to find alternate routes.

Two lanes of eastbound I-70 will be closed at 32nd until Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving.

The Colorado Department of Transportation had already planned to start some of the work on the bridge in the spring but the pothole sped up their timeline.

"We have to rehab the entire bridge. Right now we're doing eastbound and the work we do will inform how we do the westbound route," said CDOT spokeswoman Emily Wilfong. "We might find some damage that we could potentially find westbound and be prepared for that."

The repairs on the pothole forced crews to close the right and center lanes of I-70 in that area.

CDOT said they will be working around the clock to get the repairs completed.

CDOT is recommending that drivers take 6th Avenue as an alternate route.
