2 In Custody After Body Found Rotting In Garage

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Two men wanted by police were booked into jail this week after a rotting body was found inside the garage of a vacant home.

Police received a call just before 11 a.m. Sept. 25 about suspicious circumstances in the 2500 block of North Cascade Avenue after neighbors reported smelling what they thought was "rotting meat" coming from a detached garage.

When officers arrived, they found a body in a body bag under carpet in the garage of the vacant home.

It appears the body was placed there by individuals who worked for a funeral and cremation company after the El Paso County coroner had conducted an autopsy.

Police arrested Craig Ryan Brown, 34, and J. Timothy Brown, 51, for criminal trespass, conspiracy and abuse of a corpse days after arrest warrants were issued for the men.

Court records reveal that both men have previous felony convictions.
