2 Hospitalized In House Fire Caused By Smoking

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters responded to a house fire in Lakewood Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home located on Mexico Avenue near South Union Boulevard.

Four people were in the home when the fire broke out. Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries for smoke inhalation.

According to West Metro Fire, the preliminary cause of the fire believed to be from smoking. There were possibly two ignition points -- a couch in the garage and a toaster in the garage used to light cigarettes.

The house may a be a total loss.
