Searchers Look For 2 Hikers In Maroon Bells Area

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Searchers are looking for two hikers in the Maroon Bells area.

The two men from Vail, both in their 30s, were reported missing Wednesday night. The Aspen Daily News reports that one of them sent a photo from the top of one of the 14,000-foot-plus peaks near Aspen to his fiancee around 1 p.m. Wednesday and failed to contact her later as expected.

Mountain Rescue Aspen volunteers searched for the hikers Thursday on foot but snow prevented a search from the air.

A vehicle belonging to one of the hikers was found at the trailhead.
