1 Hurt In Officer-Involved Shooting In Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Boulder investigated an officer-involved shooting on Sunday afternoon that put one man in the hospital. Officers continued to search for another person connected to the incident.

Police rushed to the Broadway bridge in Central Park where a man was shooting into Boulder Creek about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.  When two officers arrived and tried to approach the man, he pointed a gun at them. That's when at least one officer discharged his/her firearm.

The man was struck and rushed to Boulder Community Health.

Another man who appeared to be with the suspect ran off before officers could talk to him. Police are interviewing witnesses to get a description of the man and find him.

About 20 minutes into the investigation after the gunman was shot, several people in the park told police they heard what sounded like a gunshot and ran away from the area.

"I was outside and I just heard somebody running behind me, I saw a lot of people running that way," said witness Teresita Villasenor.

Police are unsure if that shot was related to the original incident.

Multiple shell casings have been recovered from the scene. The dive team helped investigators gather evidence from Boulder Creek.
