19th-Century Loveland Home On National Register
LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - A years-long effort to save a 19th-century Loveland house from demolition and then rehabilitate it has culminated with the home's placement on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Reporter-Herald reports that the National Park Service made the designation this week for the Milner-Schwarz farmhouse, following a unanimous recommendation from the Colorado Historic Preservation Review Board.
The house, built in 1873, was once home to the family of Sarah Milner, the first public school teacher in the Big Thompson Valley.
Mike Perry, president of the Loveland Historical Society, says the society will open the house for public tours next year.
