17 Flights Diverted From DIA Due To Strong Winds

DENVER (AP) — At least 17 flights have been diverted from Denver International Airport because of severe weather blamed on strong winds and microbursts.

DIA spokesman Heath Montgomery said Friday most of the planes are being sent to Colorado Springs. He said the strong winds are expected to die down around 9 p.m. MDT and the planes that were diverted will be allowed to return.

He said the diversions are affecting most airlines.
