14-Year-Old Hunter In Mesa County Shot To Death

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators are looking into the death of a 14-year-old hunter in Mesa County.

Justin Burns died of a gunshot wound near Big Creek Campground located near the Grand Mesa on Sunday.

The boy was bow hunting with his father at the time but investigators haven't released any more information about what happened.

The suspected shooter has been identified but the person's name hasn't been released.

It's currently bow and muzzleloader season for various big game, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. It's rifle season to hunt bear in many areas of Colorado.

The investigation is ongoing.
