13-Year-Old Girl Rescued At Rocky Mountain National Park

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) — A 13-year-old girl was rescued in the middle of the night after she hurt her leg while hiking with her dad at Rocky Mountain National Park.

The teen's father hiked to find better cellphone reception and called for help. Rescue workers traveled over steep terrain impacted by the Fern Lake Fire before finding the pair in the early hours of Monday morning.

Park search and rescue team members put the teen in a lift to bring her 200 feet above a rock cliff. A helicopter flew her to an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Park officials are not identifying the girl, who's a minor, or her dad.
