11,000 Daily Passengers Expected To Ride RTD's New 'Flatiron Flyer' Buses

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The Regional Transportation District on Tuesday unveiled its Flatiron Flyer buses for a new service between Denver and Boulder.

The Flatiron Flyer will travel the 18 miles of express lanes along Highway 36. There will be six stops at Park-n-Ride stations.

The buses can carry up to 57 passengers. RTD estimates the route will serve 11,000 passengers daily.

"Today we are celebrating one step along the way, which is the new Flatiron Flyer buses, the branded buses," Boulder Mayor Matt Appelbaum said. "It's an important component, but there's a lot more to come."

The 59 Flatiron Flyer buses will be delivered by the end of summer. The service is expected to launch in January.
