1 Killed, 6 Hurt In Head-On Crash On Hampden
DENVER (CBS4) - One person was killed and six others were hurt in a head-on crash in Denver overnight.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Galena Street.
A silver sedan going eastbound on Hampden apparently drifted into the westbound lanes and crashed into a black SUV with five people inside. One person in the sedan died.
Police said they believe the driver of the sedan was speeding above the posted limit of 45 mph.
A witness was driving in the area and saw what happened.
"I saw the sparks of the silver vehicle lose control, so I knew he was losing control, and all of a sudden I saw it come over," Taryn Marple said. "It was a pretty crazy thing to see the two vehicles collide."
No names of anyone involved in the accident have been released.
