1 Dead In Overnight Officer-Involved Shooting

DENVER (CBS4) - One person was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting overnight in Denver.

The incident happened at approximately 3 a.m. in the Baker neighborhood at South Fox Street and West Ellworth Avenue, and no officers were hurt.

Police said officers were trying to make an arrest at a home and encountered a man inside armed with a knife.

When the man refused to comply with orders to drop the weapon, he allegedly came closer to them. Police tried to tase him but it wasn't effective. Officers then ended up shooting the man. He died after being taken to the hospital.

Denver firefighters also helped authorities on the scene in their operation. They were able to get a person of interest in the case who was hiding on the roof into custody.

The name of the person who was injured has not been released, but police say there was a warrant out for his arrest.
