1 Dead, Suspect Arrested After Hit & Run In Wheat Ridge

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A teenager was killed after a hit and run crash near 32nd Avenue and Kipling Street in Wheat Ridge.

It happened around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash and police say the driver who caused it jumped out of their car and ran off on foot.

Police arrested that driver, Alton Kirkland, 23, in connection with the deadly crash a short time later. Officers said he got out of the car he was driving and then ran away from the crash, leaving an injured woman and two children behind in the vehicle.

Kirkland is facing charges of felony menacing and vehicular homicide. He is being held at the Jefferson County jail.
