Yellow Line Suspended For Track Problem

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A track problem has suspended service on the CTA's Yellow Line.

The issue was first reported about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. As of 5 a.m. Monday, service was still suspended, according to the CTA. There is no estimate for when trains will begin running again.

All service is suspended on the line that runs between Chicago and Skokie, according to the CTA. However, shuttle buses are providing connecting service through the affected area.

An embankment underneath the tracks near McCormick Boulevard began eroding during a construction project that is not being run by the CTA, rendering the tracks unstable, agency spokeswoman Tammy Chase said.

The No. 97 Skokie bus is also a good alternative to the Yellow Line, according to the transit agency.

Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time.
