Wrigleyville Halloween Crawl Canceled Due To Cubs Game

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Usually at this time of year, people are preparing for Halloween and doing last minute costume shopping - but not this year, at least not in Chicago.

This year it is all about baseball in October, as the Cubs take on the Indians in the World Series. The Chicago Cubs play home at Wrigley Field for Games 3, 4, and the possible Game 5 - meaning Halloween weekend may fade into the background in some neighborhoods, especially Wrigleyville - or, everyone can just say they are dressed as a Cubs fan for Halloween.

Chicago Twenty Something Inc., a marketing and event planning company, hosts many events, such as bar crawls and booze cruises around the city connecting the area's 20-something-year-olds. One of their events is the Wrigleyville Halloween Crawl, which they host annually with participating area bars. But after the Cubs beat the Dodgers in the NLDS series and the World Series schedule was announced, the 2016 crawl was canceled.

The Wrigleville Halloween Crawl was set to occur Saturday, Oct. 29 kicking off at 8 p.m.

Chicago Twenty Something sent out an email Sunday to those who have already purchased tickets, alerting them of the cancellation and their options. They also updated their website with the following information.

People who already purchase tickets have one of three options:

1. Transfer tickets to the Halloween DAY Crawl on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 11am-6pm (The suggested option)
2. Transfer tickets to the River North Halloween Crawl on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8pm-12am (but they note, the bars will be crowded during the Cubs Game, especially the sports bars)
3. Full refund of ticket price

Chicago Twenty Something also offers suggestions for those who have not purchased tickets to any event yet. The company is hosting a Halloween DAY Crawl on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 11:00am-6:00pm in River North and a Halloween Thursday Booze Cruise on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 7:30-10:30pm on Anita Dee II at Dusable Harbor.

The company apologized on the crawl's website for the inconvenience.

And closed with, 'Go, Cubs Go!'
