Meeting to be held Tuesday on housing migrants at Wilbur Wright College

Community meeting on migrant housing at Wright College

CHICAGO (CBS) – On Tuesday night, residents in Chicago's Northwest Side will get a chance to voice their support or concerns about housing migrants at Wilbur Wright College.

For weeks, city officials have been housing asylum seekers who have arrived in Chicago at police stations because other shelters are full.  A police source told CBS 2 there are about 800 migrants at police stations across the city.

Ald. Nick Sposato (38th) said that come June 1, hundreds of migrants will be relocated to Wright College, 4300 N. Narragansett Ave., to alleviate the crowds at local police stations.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, a community meeting will be held at the college to discuss the plans to house migrants there with residents of the 38th Ward.

The plan is to house about 400 migrants at Wright College from June 1 through Aug. 1.
