Worker Dies After Fall From West Town Roof

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A construction worked died after falling off a roof in the West Town neighborhood Saturday morning.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was part of a work crew at a construction site in the 400 block of North Morgan Street when he fell through a hatch or hole in the roof about 9:15 a.m., Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

The man fell about 35 feet, according to police. He was dead at the scene, authorities said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the man's death Saturday afternoon but could not provide further details pending notification of his family.
