Woman's Missing Chihuahua Ends Up Being Another Family's Long-Lost Pet

(CBS) -- We told you about the Chihuahua that was missing for four years and reunited with his owners, thanks to help from the Chicago Police.

Now, a Pullman family says they are the ones who had him since 2012.

"I'm happy he found his original owners," says Bonita Whitfield.

She says her friend found the dog four years ago, and they named the animal Jake.

And Jake got out a few months ago.

Fast forward to this week. Whitfield's father called to tell her Jake was on the news, reunited with his previous owners.

"It is a little bittersweet. I'm sure they're not going to want to give him back to us. But I would like to see him again, if I could," Bonita says.

Gloria Martinez is the original owner of the dog.  She called him Chiquito. She says it's only right that Whitfield should say goodbye.

"I would love to meet her," she says. "I know she would want him back, but -- it's hard."
