Woman's Body Pulled From Lake At Promontory Point

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The body of a woman was pulled from Lake Michigan near Promontory Point on the South Side Monday afternoon.

About 2:11 p.m., the body of the 75-year-old woman was pulled from the water off the park near 55th Street, police said. She has been identified as Soufija Pastuovich, of the 5400 block of South East View Park, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:52 p.m. Monday, the medical examiner's office said.

Pastuovich had been reported missing from her home since Sunday, according to a police missing person alert. Police warned she may have been confused and in need of medical treatment.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
