Woman's Body Found In Trunk In Gary

GARY, Ind. (STMW) -- Police are investigating a possible homicide after they found the body of a woman Monday in the trunk of a car in a wooded area in Gary, Ind.

Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram Jr. said police got a call Monday afternoon about an abandoned car on a gravel road behind New Nazareth Baptist Church, 1626 E. 21st Ave.

Police went to the scene, opened the trunk and discovered the decomposed body of a black woman, according to police. Ingram said police are trying to identify the victim.

The Lake County Coroner's office confirmed the death but could not provide any other details Monday night.
