Woman Struck By Car, Critically Injured In North Center

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 62-year-old woman was struck by a car and critically injured Sunday morning in the North Center neighborhood.

A 25-year-old man was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra south in the 3400 block of North Western at 10:18 a.m. when his car skidded into the intersection after the light turned red, according to Chicago Police.

He reversed the car to get out of the intersection and struck the woman, who was walking east in the crosswalk, police said.

She was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
