Woman Struck And Killed On I-57 In Posen; Outbound Lanes Closed

POSEN, Ill (CBS) -- A woman was struck and killed on I-57 in Posen after exiting a car on the expressway, police said.

The woman got out of a vehicle that was pulled over when a passing car struck and killed her north of 147th Street around 2:30 a.m., Illinois State Police said.

The driver of the other car stayed at the scene.

The woman was identified as Shante S. Williams, 23, of the West Englewood neighborhood.

Outbound I-57 was closed between 127th Street and Sibley Boulevard for more than four hours.

Lanes were reopened shortly before 7 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
