Woman Struck And Killed By Car In Wicker Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman was struck by a car and killed Monday night in the Wicker Park neighborhood on the North Side, police said.

A 23-year-old woman driving a 2011 Nissan Juke was pulling out of a CVS Pharmacy parking lot about 9:35 p.m. and turning left onto Division Street near Ashland Avenue, when her vehicle struck the pedestrian on the roadway, police said.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old woman, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not confirm the fatality early Tuesday.

A police source said the woman was wearing all black clothing.

The driver was cited for not exercising due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian, police said.
