Woman Sexually Assaulted While Jogging In Marquette Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police were warning residents of the Marquette Park neighborhood to be on alert, after a woman was raped at gunpoint while she was jogging early Wednesday.

The 19-year-old woman was jogging shortly after midnight Wednesday morning in the 6500 block of South Artesian Avenue, when a man wearing a black hoodie approached her, and flashed a handgun, police said.

The man then forced her into a gangway, and sexually assaulted her.

Police said the woman was unable to clearly see the man's face, because of the hoodie he was wearing.

The victim described her attacker as a black male between 5-foot-1 and 5-foot-3, weighing 140 to 160 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with letters on the front.

Police cautioned people in the area to be careful of their surroundings, especially that late at night.
