Woman Sexually Assaulted While Jogging Along Lakefront In Hyde Park

(STMW) -- A woman was sexually assaulted while jogging at the lakefront in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side Friday morning.

The 58-year-old woman was running by the lake near the 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive about 11:10 a.m. when a man ran up behind her, pulled her to the ground "in a semi-secluded area" and assaulted her, according to a community alert from Wentworth District police.

The attacker is described as a medium-complexion black man between 23 and 25 years old, standing 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1 and weighing 150-160 pounds.

He has brown eyes and clean-cut black hair worn in twists or short braids, and was last seen wearing a black and white camouflage full-zip hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans and a dark-colored knit hat with long tie strings on either side, police said.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Area Central Detectives at (312) 747-8380.
